Practice Walk 4
Monday 22nd Sep
- Going for a 10k today, so I'm really going to be tested on how I go without something to listen to
Progressive Practice Ponderings:
- I've just resorted to playing my podcasts out loud while I walk, since I still don't have anything to listen to them with. As a result of my deteriorating brain and attention span, it is unfortunately difficult to walk such a distance with only my thoughts and the chorus of my surroundings for company.
Post Practice Perpensions:
- Right foot was in pain for the first couple of kilometres as per usual. It wore off eventually, just like every other time, but at the end, I could definitely feel it aching a little.
- For the last 2k or so, my feet began to hurt from rubbing against my shoes. I'm thinking that on the day, I might bring a few pairs of socks to change into, maybe that'll help.
- Otherwise, my legs felt a little sore, but I was able to maintain a good pace and complete the 10k in 1h 39m, equating to my standard thus far, 6km/hr pace.
- Even fatigue-wise, I felt pretty much unfazed; however, for the sake of my legs and feet, I might take a 15-minute break every 10k on the day, or a period where I shuffle along and slow down.
- On the day, I expect fatigue and the like may increase exponentially rather than linearly, so during the later stages, I might find myself getting more sore and more tired at a faster rate, especially because it's at night. There's no real counter-measure to this other than to just thug it out, which is essentially the point anyway.

Practice Walk 3
Thursday 18th Sep
- Yeah, I really need to do practice walks more often, will try to commit to 2 during weekdays going forward
Progressive Practice Ponderings:
- Right foot hurt again and disappeared again; however, this time the right leg started getting a bit sore too. Though in the same way, I'm sure it's just the body's acclimation
- Getting warmer now, not hot by any means, but would never even consider a jacket
Post Practice Perpension:
- Went 5km in 48:42, so approximately 6.16km/hr.
- Was reminded today of the fact that I should prepare stuff like energy bars/drinks and the like for sustenance during the walk. There are rest stations, I believe, but I'm not quite sure what they have.
- Should change up my walking route to get different photos, or just take photos of something else rather than the same cityscape I suppose.

Practice Walk 2
Thursday 11th Sep
Pre Practice Preambles:
- Not a huge fan of waking up at 5, to be honest. The only issue is I'd like to do practice walks longer than 5k, so that might have to be exclusively for the weekends.
- I think the weather should be warm enough not to need a jacket
Progressive Practice Ponderings:
- Quite windy, chillier than anticipated
- Will be wearing sunglasses next time for the return walk into the sun
Post Practice Perpensions:
- Right foot was in pain for the first 2/5 of the walk, but after that it seemed to disappear
- Walked 5.01km in 50 minutes, so average speed of 6km/h. Under perfect conditions, on track to complete 42km in 7 hours, of course, this won't be the case on the day.

DONATION DISPLAY ISSUES
Thursday 11th Sep If you're looking at my donations, I received a $30 donation from Chris Calway and a $20 donation from Vu Tran. I don't know why it's displaying my name, but I'll try and get that fixed. Share
Practice Walk 1
Monday 1st Sep
- I'll start with a 5k, which should be fairly easy. I'll just be curious to see what my pace is looking like
- Weary of the fact I don't have earphones or anything as it's practically impossible to exist without them these days
Post Practice Perpensions:
- Went pretty well, right foot was a bit sore at the start, but that's something I've always had and more or less wore off by the end. The right ankle was a little niggly as well; it will be interesting to see how that goes over longer distances.
- Wasn't doubled over trying to catch my breath or anything which is positive
- 5.13km in 51 min, though that time includes stops at traffic lights and such, average pace of around 6km/hr. If I were to maintain that pace, it would put me at approximately 7 hours to complete the entire walk; however, with rest breaks and fatigue, I obviously imagine that will not be the case.
- Went alright without the earphones, I didn't think about the fact I didn't have any at any point; however, maybe having them would distract me better from the subtle annoyances in my legs. Then again, I might have company on the night and not need them as much, who's to say.

I'm walking All Night Long! But I need your help
Thursday 21st Aug I'm joining a celebration of courage to raise funds for sick kids and their families. I really need your support! Each day can feel like a marathon for sick kids and their families. Which is why I'm walking 42km All Night Long this October. This is where you can help. Will you please donate what you can? Every dollar you give will support sick kids in Queensland and give me the inspiration and energy I need to walk All Night Long.
Yep, this is going to be a challenge, and I'm going to be exhausted and tired at the end. But I know with your help, it will be so worth it, and it's a fraction of what families with sick kids go through. Please donate now. 💛
I left the part above in since it encapsulates everything well. As for what I have to say, I'm still relatively new to the city, and I'm hoping this will be a nice way to become somewhat better familiar with it while contributing to a great cause. Plus, it'll be a good challenge for me in my post 'fat piece of shit' era and more than sufficient to cancel out any guilt I could have for eating anything afterwards, essentially serving as a free 'eat whatever and as much as I want' gift card (you can take the man out of...).
I think it'd be neat to start an Ingham/Townsville NQ team, so if you know anyone who is participating and interested, tell them to shoot me a message.
If you aren't able to donate, consider doing me a favour and spreading the word instead.
I'll try and add updates to the page as best I can.
