I'm walking All Night Long! But I need your help

I’ve officially signed up to take on the 42km All Night Long walk in Brisbane, and this one means so much more to me than just a challenge. ❤️

The two charities this event supports; Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Children’s Hospital Foundation have personally been there for our family during some of the hardest moments of our lives.

When Phoenix was born, we spent five weeks at Ronald McDonald House. We were already navigating a completely overwhelming and terrifying new reality, and having somewhere safe, comfortable and close to the hospital made an incredibly stressful time just that little bit easier. It gave us somewhere to sleep right across the road from the hospital when our world had been turned upside down.

And the Children’s Hospital Foundation has been there for us through Phoenix’s numerous hospital stays. They have a way of thinking of all the little things that make such a huge difference when you’re living in hospital. Coffee vouchers when I desperately need a little pick-me-up, toys and books for Phoenix, little moments of kindness and even making sure he didn’t miss out on his very first Santa photos. 

They also captured beautiful photographs of Phoenix as a newborn, photographs that I will treasure forever. At a time when everything felt so uncertain, having those precious memories of my tiny baby meant more than I can put into words.

They even thought of me amongst everything that was happening. On my first Mother’s Day, they gave me a beautiful gift and reminded me that while everyone was focused on caring for Phoenix, I was a mum who needed care and kindness too. Those little gestures may seem insignificant to some, but when you’re spending weeks in hospital with your child, they mean everything.

These organisations didn’t just provide practical support. They helped make some of the hardest days a little lighter. They gave us moments of normality, kindness and joy during a time that was anything but normal.

So on October 24th, I’ll be walking 42km through the night for the families who are still living that reality.

For the parents sitting beside hospital beds.
For the babies and children fighting battles they never should have had to face.
For the families who just need somewhere safe to sleep, a meal, a coffee, a book, a little bit of normality or a moment of magic in an incredibly difficult time.

These charities have supported our family, and now I want to give something back. ❤️

42km is going to be a HUGE challenge for me, but knowing exactly who I’m walking for makes every kilometre worth it.
