I am honoured to walk on behalf of Ollie and her family to help raise funds for sick kids. 

Each day can feel like a marathon for sick kids and their families. Which is why I'm walking 21kms All Night Long on the 24th October. I would really appreciate your support

Ollie was born almost 13 years ago and soon her parents, Cory and Amanda, found she had Dilated Cardiomyopathy which progressed to Heart Failure when Ollie was just Eight Months old. Her family were told to prepare to say goodbye to their beautiful baby and sister, but Ollie kept fighting and she was flown to Melbourne and kept alive on an artificial heart until she was given the precious gift of heart transplant at 14 months of age. Ollie recovered well and learnt to walk and grew into a typical active toddler. Just before her 2nd birthday Ollie started getting sick and had 6 admissions to hospital including one with a Two Hour Grand Mal Seizure which caused Significant Brain Damage and Severe Epilepsy. Ollie is now Intellectually Impaired and has Significant Developmental Delay. For the last 10 years, Ollie has had anywhere between 50 to 200 seizures every day! There have been many invasive investigations, operations, including a Corpus Callosotomy (cutting the nerves between the 2 hemispheres of the brain), medications and weekly blood tests. With the enormous love and dedication of her mum, dad and brothers, along with an army of extended family and professional helpers, Ollie is now 12 years old and is living her best life. A huge part of her care and support for her family has come from the Children's Hospital Foundation and Ronald McDonald House. Ollie and her family recently spent 18 weeks in hospital with the exceptional team of medical professionals conducting extensive tests and caring for Ollie. In mid August her parents were told by her medical team that Ollie is again in Heart Failure, her lungs and kidneys struggling and it was time to take her home, take one last holiday and enjoy the time they all have together. They didn't give a timeline, but they made it clear Ollie is slipping. Everybody is hoping and praying Ollie will defy the odds again! 

To already make 12, almost 13 years of a challenging but loving and loved life shows how extraordinary Ollie and her family are. That smile you see in the photo is real. Her life is worthwhile, as are all the children supported by the Children's Hospital Foundation and Ronald McDonald House.
