I'm walking All Night Long! But I need your help

As many of you know, Miss Ella, on a completely normal Thursday afternoon in August 2024, lost her balance in the kitchen. When she reached up to grab the handle of a pot of boiling pasta to try to stabilise herself, she ended up sustaining burns to 32% of her body. Her burns affected her scalp, ears, face, both arms, left hand, chest, stomach, upper legs and buttocks.

Ella spent 10 days in an induced coma in the ICU at the Queensland Children's Hospital. She had an additional 45 days on the burns ward. She had two further week-long admissions for infections in her healing wounds and to this day remains under the care of the Paediatric Burns team. Ella kept the team on their toes throughout her time both on the ward and as an outpatient.

With the help of a full multidisciplinary team Miss Ella learn to eat, drink, talk, sit, stand, walk and play again. We spent many hours walking to hallways or local streets when she couldn't sleep and even more hours in Starlight or in the playground on level 1.

I spent many nights awake, watching Ella sleep and wondering if we would ever get to enjoy a normal life again. If I was not at Ella's side, I was able to be close by at the Ronald McDonald House while her other family visited.

So this year, I'm joining a celebration of courage to raise funds for sick & injured kids and their families. I really need your support!

Each day can feel like a marathon for sick kids and their families. Which is why I'm walking 42kms All Night Long this October.

This is where you can help. Will you please donate what you can? Every dollar you give will support sick kids across Queensland through the incredible work of the Children’s Hospital Foundation and Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland, while giving me the inspiration and energy I need to keep going all night long.

Yep, this is going to be a challenge, and I'm going to be exhausted and tired at the end. But I know with your help, it will be so worth it, and it's a fraction of what families with sick kids go through. Please donate now. 💛
