Why I Support the Ronald McDonald House

In 2022, I began volunteering with the Kids Club at the Ronald McDonald House. At this time in my life, I was still in Year 10, however I received so much support from other staff and volunteers to continue hosting these activities for seriously ill or injured children and their siblings. For 3 years, I dedicated two hours each week to painting, LEGO robot building, reading, clay sculpting, drawing, face painting, meeting popular sports teams, and patting wombats, snakes and lizards, all whilst sharing these moments with these children.
As I began to turn against myself during these teenage years in my life, I came to the realisation that it was more about being there to spend time with young children, it was about learning how they viewed the world and finding meaning in the little things in life. I learnt how to be grateful for the life we are given, and how an optimistic outlook on life simply makes it so much easier to keep living.
After my time with the Ronald McDonald House, I received a nomination for Queensland Youth Volunteer of the Year award in 2024.
Since then, I have begun my journey to becoming a paediatric nurse and hosting fun events with the goal of raising vital funds for various other charities in the world.
I will be running/walking the 42km marathon ALL NIGHT LONG to raise awareness and promote this charity's cause.
I would be so grateful for your support, whether it be joining the Hoshi's House team or donating a few dollars.
Thank you for showing so much kindness!

Kind regards,
Tiara
