I’m walking 42km All Night Long for sick kids 🌝🥾
This October, I’m taking on a challenge that is definitely going to push me!! I’m walking 42km through the night to raise money for sick kids and their families across Queensland.
There’s a really personal reason this cause means so much to me.
I wasn’t a sick kid myself, but I grew up around cancer. My mum had cancer and sadly passed away and my dad also battled cancer. So I know firsthand how much a serious illness can affect an entire family. I really couldn’t fathom what it would be like for a child to be the one going through it or for their parent to have to watch their child face something so shit.
I’m doing this partly as a challenge for myself, but also as a little reminder of how lucky I am to be able to take on something like this. My dad went through chemotherapy and then went off to his physically demanding work for 12 hours building sheds because he was determined to provide for his family. If he could do that while going through chemo, I reckon I can push through a 42km walk through the night. 👊
It’s going to be hard and I’ll probably have one too many caffeinated beverages but it’s nothing compared to what so many families are dealing with.
Every donation, big or small, will help support sick kiddos and their families through the incredible work of the Children’s Hospital Foundation and Ronald McDonald House South East Queensland.
If you’re able to donate, I’d be so incredibly grateful. 🫶 And if you can’t donate, I’ll take a word of encouragement cause lord knows I’ll need it 😴
