I'm walking All Night Long for Charlie B 🐝
This October, I’m walking 21km All Night Long alongside my dear friend Courtney, in honour of her incredibly strong and brave daughter, Charlie B.
Back in 2023, Charlie became critically unwell with Strep A and sepsis. What followed was an extraordinary battle for survival - 10 days on ECMO, 21 days under sedation, 30 days in PICU, 3 major surgeries and 2 minor surgeries, 35 days of dialysis, 49 days on oxygen, and 74 nights in hospital.
She was given just a 30% chance of survival and this little fighter proved just how strong she is. 🐝💛
I first came into Charlie’s life through her physiotherapy journey, helping her work towards getting her strength and independence back after the most unimaginable fight. I’m incredibly lucky to now call Charlie and her family friends.
Charlie’s recovery has been a long journey. She has needed ongoing occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech therapy to rebuild her strength and relearn skills such as movement, communication and eating.
But Charlie’s story isn’t just about the incredible medical care she received. Her family were supported every step of the way by nurses, doctors, therapists and organisations such as Ronald McDonald House Charities. Courtney says these charities helped make an unimaginable time a little more manageable by providing somewhere for family to stay close, practical support, meals, parking and spaces where Charlie’s brother and family could simply be together.
That’s why we're walking 21km All Night Long this October; because 21km in one night is a challenge, but it is nothing compared to the marathon that sick children and their families can face every single day.
Every donation, big or small, will help provide support to sick kids and their families when they need it most.
Please consider donating and helping us walk those 21km for Charlie, for her family, and for the many other families who will need this support. Thank you for supporting us and for helping turn Charlie’s incredibly difficult journey into something that can help other families too. 🐝💛
